A small, high-growth pharmaceutical company in the San Francisco Bay area is expanding its presence in the rare disease market and adding an Associate Director of Marketing to their commercial team. This dynamic organization discovers and develops new chemical entities for critical, unmet healthcare needs and is now looking for a marketing professional to help take their business to the next level. They are planning the launch of a new therapeutic treatment slated for early 2022. With a product already on the market and publicly traded, they have strong capital backing with a half billion dollars in cash and assets. If you’re looking for a strategic challenge in a dynamic, scientifically driven organization this could be the opportunity for you.

Responsibilities:

The Associate Director of Marketing will develop strategic and tactical marketing plans for treatments within the rare disease market – conditions that affect fewer than 20,000 people worldwide. As part of a small, intimate marketing team, the AD will inform and educate patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals creating market development and brand awareness campaigns. As a part of a launch in early 2022, you will oversee and implement product launch activities including multi-channel strategies, segmentation, messaging, media planning, and execution. The duties include the development of traditional channels as well as social and digital marketing programs for the launch, plus post-launch analysis. Because of a strong pipeline, and in preparation for additional launches over the next 1.5 years, another key element of the role will be to have a seat at and participate on the new launch planning teams.

The small size of the marketing group means you will “wear many hats” in this assignment, and the pace of work is faster than typically seen in most marketing assignments in large pharma organizations. In this role, you will work with distribution partners in specialty pharmacies. And, on an ongoing basis, the Associate Director will also develop metrics to monitor marketing program effectiveness and evaluate the ROI of promotional efforts among various groups.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of marketing in the Biotech or Pharmaceutical industry, including product launch experience
  • Experience in the rare disease space working with specialty products for small patient populations
  • Bachelor’s degree or better is required; MBA or similar advanced degree preferred

The compensation package for this position includes a competitive base salary, an annual bonus based on company and individual performance, and equity within the company. A comprehensive corporate benefits package is also provided.

This position is based in the San Francisco Bay area. Candidates who work remotely and can travel to the Bay area at least one week per month will also be considered.

This is an opportunity to leverage your technical experience and relationships for something more than a simple paycheck. If this sounds like the type of environment you are seeking at this point in your career, and if your background meets these qualifications, please apply.
