We are Biologics Optimization at Amgen. We are seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatic Scientist to join our team in Thousand Oaks, CA. We are a multidisciplinary group in Research with capabilities in protein engineering, cloning, expression, purification, and analysis of therapeutic proteins, responsible for the engineering, production, assessment, and final selection of large molecule drug candidates that advance to Process Development.

You are a creative, critical thinker with a passion for how informatics and next-generation sequencing are pushing the frontier of biological knowledge and therapeutic innovation in service of patients. 

At Amgen, you will:

  • Innovate bioinformatic approaches to advance programs in our large molecule portfolio, working with both NGS and protein engineering platforms.

  • Develop and support a high-throughput, automated synthetic biology pipeline within Therapeutic Discovery.

  • Support implementation of LIMS systems and data storage solutions

  • Provide scientific results that support the generation of publications, patents, or regulatory submissions, and participate in internal and external scientific meetings.

  • Doctoral/PhD degree
  • Or

  • Master’s degree and 3 years of experience
  • In addition, you will have demonstrated experience in:

  • Analysis of short and long-read NGS data, including aligners, variant callers, expression analysis packages.

  • Fluency in Python, Java, Bash, Biostatistics

  • Being an efficient and clear communicator particularly as it pertains to working in teams to execute downstream data analytics based upon varied experimental setups

  • Publications highlighting your scientific contributions and achievements

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • A working understanding of molecular biology, Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology and protein engineering platforms (RoseTTAFold).

  • Experience with SQL, Julia, C or Golang

  • Experience with LIMS systems
