Summary of Primary Function

As a member of the BSMH Legal Network, the Paralegal, working directly with real estate attorneys,performs a variety of the team’s essential duties including, but not limited to management of assigned legal matters for a specific market, support service or entity. This individual has effective organizational, planning, problem solving, multitasking, technology, analytical, judgment, and administrative skills and supports 2 to 3 attorneys.This position will produce work of a legal nature, focusing on real estate, utilizing knowledge and expertise regarding the legal system and substantive and procedural law and the ethical considerations of the legal profession.Interfaces with operational and/orsupport services leadership, consultants, vendors, and both internal and external clients.

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinate and monitor activities to triage work to appropriate person(s).

  • Responsible for reviewing and drafting of real estate purchase and sale agreements, leases, subleases, timeshare arrangements, title and survey objection letters, correspondence, memoranda, policies or other communications for assigned legal matters. Assist in review and drafting of construction contracts.

  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements, including the Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute, is preferred.

  • Investigate the facts, gather and arrange requested documents for attorney needs and provide summaries.

  • Maintain a repository of templates for various types of documents and contracts.

  • Organize and maintain documents in a paper or electronic filing systems including Meditract and I-Manage.

  • Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles.

  • Completes six (6) hours of continuing legal education or other applicable education on an annual basis.Education may pertain to a particular practice area/subject matter or may be geared to general professional development.Education may be completed via seminar, webinar, internal attorney education, outside attorney/law firm education.

  • Coordinate with outside consultant on monitoring real estate lease arrangements, including collection of rent and drafting of delinquency notices.

  • Ability to come into the Bond Hill, OH office as needed

  • Employment Qualifications

  • Required Minimum Education:  Associate's Degree*, Specialty/Major: Paralegal Studiesor Related Field(*prior Paralegalexperiencemay be substituted for education)
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree *, Specialty Major: Paralegal Studies or Degree in Related Field / Paralegal Certificate(*prior Paralegalexperiencemay be substituted for education)
  • Licensing/Certification Preferred:  Paralegal Certificate or Degree (*prior Paralegalexperiencemay be substituted for education), Notary Public License
