Job Description
Purpose of Position: The QA Manager will assist in the planning and execution of FTD's Web sites, florist-facing and internal systems according to deadlines, quality, and budget. The individual will be responsible for accomplishing the project's goals from start to finish and will be the designated point of contact. This includes managing the day-to-day efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The QA Manager will also assist in defining the project's objectives and verifying compliance through the lifecycle. This role will manage a team of test engineers.
This position is part of the technology leadership team and as such the individual is expected to lead by example and create a high-performing environment and help drive the teams to meet their collective business and strategic goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the planning, execution, tracking, and compliance of quality assurance tasks for ecommerce projects. Prioritize and manage the usage of team resources for projects and work assignments on a day-to-day and project basis. Capture and analyze metrics (defect rates, automation, coverage, and related data) to gain quality and performance insights for continuous improvement. Develop and institutionalize quality assurance standards, procedures, practices, and guidelines that are designed to limit quality risks, improve effectiveness/productivity, and adjust with the marketplace technology. Build and strengthen QA teams and staff by recruiting, hiring, training, developing new members, and helping team members achieve goals and utilize their talents. Provide strategic directional recommendations for SDLC and QA operations. Cultivate relationships and respect for the QA team and other engineering teams. Occasional national and international travel. Manage a team of test engineers. Any other projects or assignments required by the business. Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or related field; 5+ years' experience in technology with a focus on testing web based technologies; ecomm platform testing preferred. 4+ years of leadership experience preferred. Experience designing, implementing and executing load, performance and scalability test cases. Experience with various testing frameworks and tools, such as Selenium, Cucumber and JMeter, etc. Database and operating systems experience with Windows, Linux, MySQL, Oracle and MS SQL Server. NoSQL tools preferred. Innovative and independent. Can work with limited direction and conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Is persuasive, encouraging, motivating and able to defuse tension. Preferred:
Experience working in an Agile/Iterative development environment. Experience working with offshore QA teams.
