  • The Role: Sensus, a Xylem brand, seeks to hire a Senior Linux Automation Engineer responsible for support, and maintenance of operational software, development of automation scripts, development and maintenance of operational pipelines, and physical support of the servers and infrastructure in our Data Centers.

    Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting Linux and Unix-based OS issues in a virtualized environment
  • Scripting and programming in Ansible, bash, and python for system and task automation
  • Support and maintenance of enterprise-grade operational applications, such as Red Hat Satellite Server, Ansible AWX/Tower, and Red Hat Directory Services.
  • Support and maintenance of containers and Kubernetes clusters.
  • Support and maintenance of VMs in several types of virtualized environments including VMWare, AWS, Azure, etc.
  • Application and OS patching of Linux/Unix based technologies and applications
  • Collaboration with operational engineers to work on large-scale projects
  • Document processes and workflows
  • Travel within the US and Canada to provide support in the datacenters when required
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities
  • Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
  • Industry-specific certifications (preferred but not required)
  • 5+ years in an operational support environment supporting and improving enterprise-grade applications and technologies
  • Expert-level knowledge and skills troubleshooting Linux-based OS and applications such as RHEL, AWX, RHDS, etc.
  • Expert-level knowledge and skills writing automation scripts including Ansible, bash, and python for large-scale environments.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge of AWS
  • Working-level knowledge and skills troubleshooting Kubernetes and Docker-based applications.
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly
  • Effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization
