Description:

The VA Underwriter is responsible for adhering to company policies and investor guidelines to ensure the closing of quality loans by analyzing loan data for accuracy and guideline compliance while assessing the risk to the company. The VA Underwriter will be expected to be well-versed on VA guidelines but will underwrite a variety of loan products, including conventional, based on product knowledge and other certifications obtained. This position supports the necessary function of the Underwriting Department to ensure the closing of quality loans.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure integrity and accuracy of loan data compared with the documentation provided
  • Adhere to company policies and investor guidelines
  • Accurately assess and calculate income of borrowers
  • Communicate with loan officers and production staff to obtain required documents
  • Review files for compliance
  • Mitigate risk to the company by ensuring the closing of quality loans
. Requirements:
  • LAPP/SAR required
  • Experience with USDA, FHA, Jumbo and Bond programs preferred
  • 3+ years of residential mortgage underwriting experience
  • Adaptable problem-solver
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong communicator, both verbal and written

Pay Range: 70-90k salary plus incentives and overtime
