We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to lead a team within our Transportation Accounting function. Transportation is a dynamic, fast-paced area with Lowe’s and is vital to our success as an omni-channel retailer. This role will be responsible for partnering cross-functionally with the Transportation, Supply Chain and various Finance/Accounting teams to collaborate on key business initiatives. This leader will lead a remote, global team of accounting experts who are responsible for the accounting and payment of transportation costs. The Assistant Manager of Transportation Accounting has a seat at the table and is expected to challenge the status quo, offer innovative solutions, and dig deep to solve problems.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, driven, organized, with a strong bias for action, attention to detail, technical savvy, and the ability to collaborate across business and finance functions.

RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENTS:

  • Supervises a group of individuals responsible for the timely processing of financial activities that require the application of technical accounting knowledge specific to their respective area.
  • Oversees training, work product review, and employee development within their respective group to build accounting skillset and knowledge and to ensure accuracy of financial reporting and analysis.
  • Manages and often performs moderately complex analysis (i.e. historical, forecasting, impact, etc.) and timely reconciliations to support monthly, quarterly and annual closing cycles according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations
  • Researches financial transactions related to their areas of responsibility to identify issues and determine appropriate resolution independently
  • Executes specials projects and resolution of non-reoccurring complex accounting issues within the respective area to deliver optimal solutions to financial issues
  • Communicates effectively within the team, across other functions, and directly with external vendors/carriers to resolve audit questions and issues
  • Partners with team and the business in order to identify transaction issues and procedure improvement opportunities to more effectively support the needs of the Finance organization

  • REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field and 4+ years’ experience in accounting (public or private) or relevant experience
  • Advanced skills in MS office programs
  • Advanced Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Technical Experience – SQL/Access/PowerBI
  • Self-motivated, driven
  • Demonstrated understanding of advanced GAAP concepts and financial controls (to apply this knowledge to the design and execution of activities within the respective area)

  • PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • MBA and 3+ years’ experience in accounting (public or private) or relevant experience
  • Experience leading a team and/or supervising others with direct or indirect reports.
  • Finance or accounting experience
  • Supply Chain/Transportation/Carrier experience
  • Technical Experience – SQL/Access/PowerBI
