Bitbot, Inc. is a digital design agency founded in 2010. We are fully-distributed, with remote employees across the United States. We are headquartered in Long Beach, California.


We are seeking a junior web developer looking to make an impact with their diverse talents and problem-solving mindset. The ideal candidate would be looking to gain experience in building PaaS/SaaS solutions & innovating web applications.


The position is full-time, and offers a flexible work schedule and fully-remote. 

Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of web development experience in a professional environment. Candidates without professional experience but with a strong school or personal project portfolio would be considered.
  • A strong interest in web development principles, best practices & standards for writing clean, scalable, maintainable and well-tested code.
  • Fluent in semantic, responsive & cross-browser front-end development.
  • Experience with back-end development is a huge plus, as is an interest in UI/UX design.
  • A fundamental understanding of and experience with front-end frameworks and libraries including: React, Preact, Vue, Angular, Gatsby or similar.
  • Good understanding of asynchronous applications & API integrations.
  • Regular use of source control tools and knowledge of related best practices (ideally Git).
  • Some familiarity with back-end tools and technologies are a plus, including: serverless frameworks (namely AWS: Lambda, S3, EC2); databases (preferably MySQL); PHP 7; Linux systems & bash scripting.
  • Experience with AGILE development methodologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Technical Lead in scoping, planning and implementing features to multiple web applications.
  • Execute front-end and back-end development work independently and collaboratively.
  • Actively contribute to SCRUM meetings with the development team and participate in meetings with marketing and design stakeholders.
  • Stay informed of emerging trends in development and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in process, tools and frameworks.
  • Independently navigate large codebases involving multiple projects.
  • Observe deadlines and successfully balance concurrent requests.
  • Build wireframes and document functional requirements.
  • Perform code reviews to ensure code runs properly, and to maintain quality, performance and responsiveness.


 The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and debugging responsive web and mobile applications for the company. Using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Java this candidate will be able to translate user and business needs into functional front-end design.

  • Accurately translate user and business needs into functional front-end and back-end code


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of web development experience
  • Familiarity using Scrum/Agile development methodologies
  • Experience building object oriented web applications in JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
