Organization Description Trans Lifeline connects trans people to the community, resources, and support they need to survive and thrive--building a resilient trans community through trans-led direct services. Trans Lifeline’s Hotline cares for trans people through moments of crisis and suicidality. Our Microgrants program provides low-barrier grants to trans people in need of legal name changes and updated government IDs--as well as specialized support for trans people who are incarcerated or undocumented. By providing care, Trans Lifeline identifies the trans community’s most pressing needs and brings that expertise to the broad movement for LGBT equality. Trans Lifeline serves a disproportionately high number of trans people of color and our Board is committed to inclusivity, diversity and excellence in service to our communities. Board Description The Board is the governing body of Trans Lifeline. We are responsible for outlining Trans Lifeline’s strategic goals, supporting Trans Lifeline’s Executive Director, fundraising, and ensuring effective financial management. We are currently recruiting for 2 new open seats on Trans Lifeline’s Board. Seats are available on our Planning, Development, Finance and Compensation Committees. Statement from the Board: Why has Trans Lifeline chosen to expand our Board? We believe our governing body is strongest when we represent more and more of our constituent groups experiences. In the interest of continuing to best partner with our communities, we have chosen to expand our board, prioritizing both skills currently underrepresented on our board and populations underrepresented on boards nationwide.

We are especially interested in new board members with some or more of the following skills and experiences:

  • Financial Oversight
  • Legal experience
  • Marketing and PR
  • Access to capital
  • Relationships with foundations and corporate entities
  • Community connections to: Media, Business, Religious organizations, the military, the political sector, and social services
  • We strongly encourage applications and inquiries from trans women of color, Indigenous trans people, people who do or have done sex work, people of color, trans women and trans feminine people, and other marginalized people.
  • Board Member (unpaid, remote position)
