Summary: This position is responsible for strategically positioning Grange’s products and services for Property lines to meet customer and agent needs, build company revenues, and drive differentiation.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • With full accountability for product profit and loss, develop and implement business plans to maximize Commercial Lines’ profit and growth across the Property, Crime, Inland Marine, and Equipment Breakdown lines of business.
  • Research, develop, and make recommendations to UW, Claims, and Sales regarding new/revised products and coverages.
  • Lead, motivate, and enable a team of professionals to accomplish business objectives. This includes indirect reports within Commercial Lines and any personnel in supporting departments (e.g., marketing, claims, information technology) who can impact/influence business results.
  • Establish and implement business strategy including: product development, pricing, and implementation processes; underwriting guidelines; portfolio mix planning and results; development of product contracts, forms and endorsements; expense control (including commissions) and fee generation.
  • Work closely with project managers and product analysts on such things as insurance department filings, project charters, project plans, rate reviews, bureau circulars, and more.
  • Lead the Commercial Lines compliance function for property product lines ensuring that products & rates follow all applicable statutes & regulations.
  • Conduct market analysis on new competitors and find new market opportunities
  • Provide product training to associates and present in key stakeholder meetings
  • Enhance the large property underwriting expertise of the underwriting department through proper application of the Lloyd’s excess scale, Probable Maximum Loss (PML) analysis, understanding fire divisions, sprinkler adequacy and combustibility/flammability across classes in conjunction with the variability created across construction types. Utilization of proper forms and endorsements to manage risk is key.
  • Oversee CAT strategy management and work closely with Enterprise Risk Management.
  • Leverage new technology tools like Betterview to enhance the property underwriting experience
  • Help lead the development of a new Monoline Inland Marine Unit.
  • What You’ll Bring To The Company:

    Bachelor’s degree preferred with advanced degree and/or professional designation (e.g. CPCU) strongly preferred. One or more years of product management profit and loss responsibility strongly desired with an emphasis on property lines of business or equivalent experience. Multiple years of commercial underwriting experience strongly desired including mid-market and large property experience. Must have superior problem solving and analytical skills with proven ability to make data-driven decisions. Must have ability to develop and lead a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment. Ability to develop and execute a business strategy/vision required. We are open to hybrid or fully remote candidates.
