Job Title: IDEAS Assistant

Campus Location: Morristown Campus (Employees are assigned to a "home" location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)

Job Purpose: The purpose of this part-time position is to provide assistance to IDEAS in support of the institution's professional development, teaching, and learning initiatives such as scheduling, registering, monitoring, assessing, reporting, and disseminating data for professional development activities, including instructional initiatives, such as online proctoring.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Enters, tracks, maintains, and requests extra compensation for faculty who (a) successfully complete or lead professional learning opportunities, (b) complete special project initiatives led by IDEAS, or (c) complete a review of online courses.
  • Monitors professional learning opportunities for faculty and staff using the web-based registration calendar. Administers, analyzes, and disseminates assessments of events and maintains a database of all faculty and staff participation in professional development activities.
  • Monitors spending and schedules online proctoring for the college's online proctoring services.
  • Assists presenters with training room technology.
  • Compiles, submits, and receipts purchase orders for IDEAS.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Business, Education, Instructional Design, Computer Science, or related field
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, to establish goals and objectives, to prioritize work to be completed and to ensure completion of those tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft programs (including Office 365) - demonstrated strong Microsoft Excel knowledge.
  • Ability to produce clear and concise written instructions and reports.
  • Ability to focus others on essential job functions and organize work in an efficient manner.
  • Demonstrated good character, mature attitude and judgement, and stable personality with the ability to work with a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to master new software/hardware and integrate it into daily office procedures and departmental functions.
  • Experience operating various types of office equipment or devices such as a hand-held scanner, printers, iPads, Dell PCs, Macs, and other tablet devices.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with faculty, staff, and student professional development.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Education, Instructional Design, Computer Science, or related field.

Leadership & Supervisory:

The incumbent position has no authority or responsibility for the supervision of others, or for project direction and/or program administration.

Most tasks are completed without consulting others, with most tasks being guided by broad policies and procedures. Work is evaluated on short to intermediate-term results.

Environment & Working Conditions: The primary job location is the college's main campus in Morristown, Tennessee. Travel to other campus locations and meeting/conference travel is required. Remote work (work-from-home) as approved by the Executive Director of IDEAS. Office environment is temperature controlled with occasional fluctuations, well lit, and free from loud noises and unnecessary interruptions.

Physical Demands (including requirements for travel or working nights/weekends/holidays):
  • Large amounts of time spent looking at computer monitors could lead to some eye strain, stress, or headache issues.
  • Repetitive stress injuries could occur.
