Job Title: Payroll & Benefits Specialist (Work from Home)
Duration: 12 Months Contract
Location: Tempe, AZ 85282
Pay Range: $21/hr on w2 basis

Position summary:
Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Payroll & Benefits, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist performs various duties that support both payroll and human resources functions. These tasks include timecard review, support with payroll processing, payroll follow up duties, report generation and distribution, benefits administration, HRIS entry and maintenance, processing of employment related documents and other administrative functions. This position will provide support to the Associate Director of Payroll & Benefits and the Director of Human Resources. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, ability to meet multiple and changing deadlines and the ability to interact with a variety of people. Incumbent must be able to work in a very busy interactive environment with frequent interruptions and to perform tasks accurately and quickly.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel), payroll systems and Web applications;
• Must have strong proficiency with math, exceptional organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail and thorough follow through;
• Ability to type proficiently (35+ wpm) and operate a calculator keypad;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work well independently as well as with co-workers, peers, supervisors and external customers;
• Ability to effectively and efficiently handle multiple tasks simultaneously with precision and adapt to changes in responsibilities and workloads;
• Must be professional, possess a high degree of urgency and self-motivation, and have a strong work ethic

Essential Job Duties:
1. Assist with the processing of payroll in the payroll system and perform pre and post payroll reports/tasks:
a. Processes, updates and downloads timesheet data from payroll system in preparation for biweekly payroll;
b. Audits PTO entry and coordinates supervisor approvals, following up on any outstanding questions or errors;
c. Downloads, prepares and distributes a variety of reports and records on a biweekly and/or monthly basis;
d. Respond to employment verifications requests, unemployment insurance requests, garnishments, and levies.
2. Assist in the administration of benefits for new hires, status changes, terminations and open enrollment periods. Audit carrier bills and submit to accounting for payment. Coordinate COBRA notices.
3. Set up and maintain employee files for benefits, electronic employee files, and other files as needed.
4. Enter and maintain various records into payroll/HRIS system including new hire and termination information, address, job, pay, deduction and tax updates, department & pay changes, etc.
5. Be a resource for employees for guidance / answers on general questions related to policies, benefits, etc.
6. Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with Company personnel and management;
a. Maintain regular contact with other departments to obtain and convey information and/or to correct transactions;
b. Keeps management informed of payroll activities and of any significant problems;
c. Attend and participate in meetings as required.
7. Perform other duties not specifically listed in this job description as assigned.

Qualifications: An Associate's degree in business or similar major and a minimum of 1 years of payroll processing experience. Prior experience with ADP Workforce Now highly preferred.
