Job Description

ABM Industries Inc. is looking for a System Administrator to install, maintain, upgrade and manage its operational software and hardware for various locations across the US. this role is remote, and the Systems Administrator would be traveling to individual job sites to setup the software system as well as completing initial training for the staff. 

The Operations Admin will work with the Operations team to manage our devices and employee deployment software for a high-profile Fortune 500 Company and will be expected to deliver an exceptional customer experience. This position will be expected to, identify and document root cause for service disruption, deployment barriers, triage the situation and implement durable processes to drive operational excellence in a complex work environment. The Operations Admin may be required to work outside of normal business hours. We are looking for someone who adapts quickly to change and is able to provide win-win solutions for both the client and ABM. A critical thinker who uses good judgement to solve problems and one who can effectively communicate with the client and the Operations team. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Has a consultant’s mindset to quickly identify root cause and possible solutions
  • Install and configure software and hardware (cellular devices)
  • Set up accounts, grant user permissions and train on using handheld devices
  • Set up client locations 
  • Train Operations on proper deployment of system and use
  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and models
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
  • Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies
  • Establishes and maintains exceptional client relationships and rapport
  • Develops operational improvement plans and implements process changes for assigned projects
  • Cultivates a strong safety culture to provide a safe work environment 
  • Gathers and maintains required administrative tasks for daily, weekly or monthly reporting
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Travel for up to 60%

  • Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military experience
  • 3-5 years of management experience
  • Experience in facility services or building management
  • Experience in warehouse, distribution center or manufacturing environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Solid business acumen and basic accounting principles 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office & Excel
  • Able to pass ABM’s background check process and have a valid State issued driver’s license
  • Previous custodial experience desired a plus
  • Experience in Facilities Operations, Retail operations knowledge is a plus, System Administrator, Network Administrator, IT admin or similar role
  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms such as PowerBi 
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • BS/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)) is a plus

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs., navigate around tight spaces, walk or stand for a period of 8-10 hours per day in an environment with variable noise levels, lighting conditions and temperature variations
