Position description

Remote position - New England/East Coast preferred

If you want to make the world a better home and discover your greatest potential, Saint-Gobain provides one-of-a-kind opportunities for innovative problem solvers.

We're one of only two companies in the world that is consistently recognized as both a top Global Employer and a Top 100 Global Innovator, but Saint-Gobain's remarkable story and culture of innovation begins with a team of nearly 200,000 creative, diverse and passionate team members collaborating across the globe. We are committed to our mission to improve lives because, every day, we witness the enormous impact of our efforts on the world around us.

Where are our solutions making an impact? If you look beyond the skies, you will see our seals in space rockets that were instrumental in man’s first steps on the moon or our materials on the Curiosity rover that is still discovering the beauty of Mars. We are also in places of care that are hidden such as microsurgical tools or insulin pumps where tiny seals are less than a millimeter but still very mighty. At home, we provide everyday comforts, powering your dryers, dishwashers, blenders and coffee machines. Ready to explore what we can do together?

This Business Development Manager position is “a seasoned coach,” who will lead the team in the commercial transportation industry. Passionate about building and implementing a global strategy? Consider yourself a great tactician? This job is for you!

You will be responsible for developing and executing a global business strategy for the Automotive Polymer Solutions’ (APS) metal seals team. Your goals are to achieve growth targets and coordinate activities to identify new opportunities of development, especially within new drive systems for trucks and race cars.

The transportation industry is reinventing itself: this is a once-in-a-generation moment to be part of a technical revolution. Help us find the best solutions for our customers and the role we can play in new automotive technologies.

Critical to growth and success in this position is having a collaborative spirit and supporting the team and key customers. Who will you interact with?

  • Multi-functional global team to identify new opportunities of development, communicate clear priorities and objectives, and provide specialist advice on the products and/or services
  • Customers in commercial transportation industries to establish strong partnerships
  • Working with these groups, you will be instrumental in nurturing the APS business to generate new revenue as well as understand target markets, competitive landscape, positioning, trends, and how to better meet existing needs. Why is this important?

  • Strategy: You will need to take into account the specificity of regional and local markets (different regulations and industry standards, proprietary and confidential information, pricing policies, etc.)
  • Customer Intimacy: You will need to maintain a consistent as well as a flexible approach while dealing with key accounts
  • Vision: You will build a “business canvas” that tackles all dimensions of business development (from product development to sales, through marketing and communication activities, engineering, supply chain and operations).
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineer or Business and 5+ years’ experience, or Master in Business or Engineering or Economics (or equivalent by experience in Seals or Marketing) or MBA with 3+ years’ experience required.
  • Familiarity with polymer and metal seals, as well as polymer materials such as composites, thermosets and thermoplastics.
  • Knowledge of transportation market and R&D/Product Development greatly preferred
