SUMMARY:

MAPCO is looking for a detail-oriented Instructional Designer with strong visual design skills to design and develop training solutions for our stores and Operations team, Store Support Center, and Transportation team. As an Instructional Designer at MAPCO, you will be responsible for creating high-quality training materials in a variety of modalities, with a focus on eLearning and job aids. Exhibiting a strong sense of empathy, you must be able to immerse yourself into the content and step into the learners’ shoes to create unique and interactive learning experiences that enhance learning absorption and retention. This position will work remote but will be required to be located in the TN market.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Design and develop employee learning programs that align with organizational goals and training needs.
  • Create engaging learning materials that enhance knowledge transfer and retention, including but not limited to job aids, interactive online courses, assessments, videos, instructor-led training, simulations, role-play scenarios, and learning games.
  • Create supporting materials and media (voiceover, illustrations, motion graphics, etc.)
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods.
  • Partner with subject matter experts across our Operations, Transportation, and Store Support Center teams to conduct needs analyses and establish actionable learning objectives.
  • Develop and host train-the-trainer programs for business leaders to prepare them to facilitate learning experiences.
  • Follow the ADDIE model to create instructionally sound training courses within established commitments and deadlines.
  • Properly scope projects and determine project timelines alongside leadership.
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders.
  • Create and update learning objects within Learning Management System (Cornerstone).
  • Troubleshoot Learning Management System to support employee experience.
  • Embed MAPCO's core values in all learning and development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
  • Strong organization skills and ability to work within tight timelines and manage multiple priorities
  • Proven success in working independently but with a contribution mindset; team player with strong relationship building skills


REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Management, Organizational Behavior, Education, or related discipline.
  • 2-3 + years of experience with instructional design and with instructional technology
  • Experience with course development software (Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) and Learning Management Systems
  • Knowledge of Adult Learning Theory and instructional design methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to write effective instructional storyboards and scripts, using simplified language and chunking
  • Strong visual design skills and experience with visual design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Experience with video production and development (Adobe Premiere, Camtasia, Final Cut Pro) a plus
