The Role

Provides Tier III engineering support to Lumen by working with the technical teams in delivering real-time technical support while interfacing directly with our US-based and international customers in a 7 x 24 x 365 Network Operations Center (NOC) and engineering support environment.

The Main Responsibilities

• Triggers projects utilizing the most feasible, practical, and economical means as the primary budget creation point of contact, allocating funds for the projects, and partnering with Engineering to ensure the budget targets are met
• Performs engineering work and applied research in the development, design and integration of new projects and products into the network
• Uses engineering discipline, engineering tools, Lumen and industry standards, network utilization monitoring along with input from Engineers, Operations, and other groups or customers to complete complex network designs and cost analysis
• Analyzes the existing network to drive toward the most up to date and reliable network and defines strategies to ensure the identified improvement to the existing network will occur timely, with cost efficiency, and consistently target overall network reliability improvements
• Assumes the overall strategy, quality, integrity, and continuity reliability of the network while ensuring that network capacity is available and used in the most efficient manner and when an augment is required that it is properly sized, timed, and budgeted to achieve the required outcome

What We Look For in a Candidate

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and relevant experience required; 6+ years of related experience or Master's degree and 4+ years of related experience
• Knowledge of Digital Signal (DS) and Optical Carrier (OC) Transmission Rates
• Excellent communication skills written, verbal, and presentation skills
• Ability to multitask by working in a face paced, constantly changing environment
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with individuals at all levels
• Ability to efficiently utilize MS Office Suite of Applications specially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Proven track record of achieving professional goals successfully
