Summary

The Director of Co-Manufacturing Network operates as Flowers Foods primary contact to, and is responsible for managing relationships with, Contract Manufacturers suppliers. The Director of Contract Manufacturing is expected to operate as the key liaison between Contract Manufacturers suppliers and internal Flowers stakeholders, including Planning, Procurement, Quality, Finance, Marketing, and R&D. This position is responsible for tracking supplier compliance to all Flowers Foods policies and procedures, in coordination with functional partners in Quality Assurance, R&D, Procurement and the Legal department.

Position is responsible for driving various Co-Manufacturer initiatives and production processes, including:

• identification and selection of new contract manufacturing suppliers

• negotiating contracts and purchasing arrangements

• coordinating new product commercialization

• leading cross functional teams to define and execute co-manufacturing projects

• establishing supplier documentation process and communications for improved supplier performance.

Position requires an incumbent who is results-oriented, self-motivated, able to function with a very high degree of independence, pro-active, creative, and who possesses innovative problem-solving skills

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop multiple Contract Manufacturer relationships
  • Lead identification and onboarding of new suppliers
  • Ensure new and existing suppliers comply with all Flowers Foods policies, procedures, and quality requirements
  • Support the Innovation and cross-functional teams to identify and implement the optimal sourcing strategy, including developing project timelines and driving the transition with managed suppliers
  • Assist the analysis and negotiations to obtain optimal item pricing
  • Assist in the development of and drive supplier performance against KPIs using supplier scorecards and performance management
  • Monitor supplier capacity and production attainment to limit interruptions in supply. Identify root causes and corrective actions where issues exist
  • Work with cross functional partners to identify options for manufacturing existing and new products. Recommend optimum production solutions for the needs of the business
  • Determine project timelines, tasks, and requirements for Co-Manufacturer production
  • Lead communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders as part of daily operations and project management, including documenting open issues and team decisions
  • Hold cross-functional, and supplier stakeholders accountable for meeting deadlines
  • Highlight risks and opportunities in a timely manner. Drive corrective actions, as necessary
  • Translate requirements into working project documents that can be used to communicate with stakeholders and suppliers
  • Coordinate production trials, and scale up through full production
  • Coordinate, distribute, and ensure supplier implementation of all Flowers process documents, specifications, and quality requirements with cross-function team. Manage updates to specifications and procedure manuals, when necessary.
  • Monitor and track supplier reporting for improvement opportunities to increase efficiencies and reduce costs
  • Review and understand total cost for all supply decisions
  • Practice and comply with all Company policies and procedures (i.e., EEO, Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc.)
  • Perform other duties deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Desired Experience

    5+ years’ experience in supplier management.
    Proven experience working with contract manufacturing vendors including successful performance management.

    Desired Education

    BA/BS degree Business, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field; MBA preferred.
