As a member of our Claims team, you will utilize your knowledge of Casualty Claims (Automobile, General Liability, Professional Liability and Property) to both manage and oversee losses to ensure appropriate outcomes. Provide a superior level of customer service to internal and external business partners. In this position you will assist with supervising claims staff and providing support to the Regional Claims Supervisor to ensure achievement of appropriate claim outcomes through consistent execution of best claims practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the assignment of losses to claims staff and provides technical direction and ongoing guidance through effective diary management.
  • Ensures timely, accurate documentation of claim activity.
  • Completes projects assigned by Supervisor or Manager, including providing back-up, diary completion, and other team-related oversight.
  • Develops workflows and internal processes to provide support for Supervisor.
  • Selects, trains, coaches and mentors unit personnel.
  • Develops staff to respond to current and anticipated needs of department as well as determining career development goals of individuals.
  • Develops, recommends and implements short range objectives consistent with company business goals, guidelines and programs.
  • Recognizes and analyzes trends across the claims portfolio at the claim professional, team and account levels.
  • Reports on observations and recommends remedial action as needed.
  • Utilizes quality assurance programs and develops training agenda based on opportunities for improvement; leads team meetings and appropriate training as assigned.
  • Utilizes performance management process effectively, on an ongoing basis, to maximize performance of employees, correct performance problems, provide development opportunities, and promote effective communication with employees.
  • Promptly manages technically complex and high exposure cases with minimal supervision.
  • Ensures appropriate case reserves consistent with company guidelines.
  • Negotiates settlements within granted authority, develops strategies and works collaboratively with vendor partners to encourage cost containment and positive case outcomes.
  • Demonstrates technical proficiency through timely, consistent execution of best claim practices and established claims handling guidelines.
  • Comply with Special Handling Guidelines of Clients.
  • Maintain and manage a diary system and claim pending to efficiently and effectively resolve all claims.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of jurisdictional requirements and applicable case law for each state serviced and appropriate licensure.
  • Provides a superior level of customer service. Participates in the account management process, resolves service issues and attends client presentations as required.
  • Promotes effective communication among and between work groups, and between management and employees.
  • Completes other duties as requested.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and apply knowledge of compliance policies and procedures, standards and laws applicable to job responsibilities in the performance of work.


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in handling Automobile, General Liability, Professional Liability and Property claims required.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, mentoring and teamwork skills.
  • Proven critical thinking skills that demonstrate analysis/judgment and sound decision making with focus on attention to details.
  • Strong verbal, written communication skills and customer service skills gained through previous work experience.
  • Computer literacy, including working knowledge of MS Office Product Suite, i.e. WORD, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel for business purposes, approximately 10%.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to work independently and deal effectively with multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Obtains and maintains state adjusting license as necessary.
