WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO:  Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction

PAY GRADE:  Teacher Salary Schedule

DUTY DAYS: 187 days

DEPARTMENT:  Learning Services

Disclaimer: This is a grant funded position. Funds for this position are expected to be available up to the end of the 2024 school year. In addition to other specified conditions of employment, the applicant understands that no guarantee of continued employment, beyond the availability of the grant funds, is expressed or implied by Irving Independent School District.

This position is eligible for a probationary Chapter 21 contract.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:  A remote conferencing teacher will temporarily instruct students virtually who are unable to attend face-to-face instruction due to COVID-related reasons (or other qualifying health reasons) as stated by TEA in their Remote Conferencing FAQ published on August 5, 2021. The teacher will follow and/or create lesson plans to provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core subject areas assigned. The job will be performed from an on-site location. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid Teaching Certificate in Subject/Level Assigned
  • ESL Supplemental Certification preferred
  • Special Knowledge/Skills

  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to implement lesson plans provided or create lesson plans as directed for those students affected by COVID-19
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge about modification of curriculum to meet the needs of English learners, students with disabilities, gifted/talented students, and dyslexic students
  • Ability to formulate ideas and communicate effectively
  • Excellent computer skills and can work with multiple types of peripheral accessories and software programs
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, oral and written communication, and human relations skills
  • Minimum Experience :

    At least one (1) year of student teaching or approved internship

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Implement provided lesson plans and/or create lesson plans as directed that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, administrative regulations, and instructions provided by the teacher.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned who have been affected by COVID-19.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required. 
  • Maintain virtual classroom discipline.
  • Use analytical skills to evaluate student work and ongoing student progress.

  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents/guardians.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with all supervisors, colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Use appropriate and acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

  • Demonstrate current knowledge, understanding, and skill in the assigned content area, online instructional strategies and the online teaching and learning process.
  • Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
