Job Description:

The Software Engineer will support the existing deployments of manufacturing systems and interfaces to analytical and business systems. This position is focused on plant control systems, software, and network solutions for our manufacturing locations in the US. The incumbent will focus on the design, development, and support of the manufacturing data systems used in GAF. This position will require an understanding of both manufacturing operations and business systems. The individual will be required to collaborate across functions and departments and various layers of management in the organization to implement solutions.

The Software Engineer will facilitate the transporting of OT data required to Enterprise systems. This includes troubleshooting, making runtime decisions, and complex analyses of many applications. The Software Engineer is tasked with providing production data streams to 3rd party systems for various needs. This position will reside within the Operations Technology Group and will work directly with other members of OT, IT, and plant personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The Software Engineer will focus on the following ongoing projects, supporting an existing Software Engineer:

  • Digital Transformation of 20+ plants, including the setup and configuration of IOT and Edge Devices

  • Integrations with MES, WMS, SPC, and other enterprise level systems

  • Management of the Operations Technology data streams to Enterprise systems.

  • The Software Engineer will also focus on the Management of:

  • Quality lab instrumentation for all sites: both hardware and software obsolescence for all sites instron, colorimeter, Thwing Albert (tensile tester), etc.

  • WinSPC – all sites software, servers and clients

  • OT infrastructure site upgrades – specifically SQL upgrades required as server and OS upgrades are performed, OT network implementations and IIoT platform rollouts.

  • REQUIREMENTS

  • A successful candidate for this position would possess the following skills:

  • Enterprise software architecture and development

  • Strong communication skills at both the engineering and the executive levels.

  • Excellent time/ priority management skills, as the position will need to support multiple business units with competing goals and objectives.

  • BS or BA degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.

  • 3-5 years experience in an industrialized environment.

  • TRAVEL / LOCATION

    This position will require 50% travel. Candidates can work remotely, but should live near a major or regional airport and have access to adequate internet service.

  • Intermediate experience with servers, firewalls, switches, and diagnostics

  • Microsoft TFS for version control

  • Exposure to: Aveva/Wonderware MES, WinSPC, Enterprise Resource Systems (PeopleSoft, Maximo, ArcPlan)

  • Experience with Cloud platforms and pub/sub data flow.

  • General knowledge/skills (entry, intermediate, advanced)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
