What will you do?


• Establish and ensure adherence to our Lean/Agile SAFe/Scrum/Kanban based software development lifecycle processes (SDLC) within the context of our Quality Management System
• Manage (directly and occasionally in a matrix fashion) a software engineering organization within the business unit as well as 3rd party vendors and contributing teams in other Thermo Fisher organizations
• Responsible for establishing, resourcing, and executing software development to ensure our products meet functional, non-functional, and quality goals
• Build and maintain working relationships with product management, quality/regulatory, program leadership, executives, other engineering teams, and development partners in order to understand the scope, timeline, resources and funding required to ensure software quality engineering projects and programs
• Participate in cross-functional project and program core teams and relay status to teams and leadership regarding the testing status of those projects and programs
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected along with a reliance on extensive experience in commercial software development

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline

Experience
• 10+ years of recent experience leading software engineering teams for commercially sold software products, preferably for web/cloud-based enterprise scale applications
• 3+ years of recent experience with large-scale software project or program management using Lean/Agile SAFe/Scrum/Kanban based processes in a commercial software development setting involving multiple cross-organizational teams and dependencies
• Demonstrable understanding and experience with the employment of modern software testing strategies for automated functional testing, unit and API testing, system integration testing, and performance/load testing
• Demonstrable understanding of designing software based on microservices oriented architectures and sophisticated data base and data management systems
• Experience in life sciences, clinical applications, bioinformatics or related domains is highly preferred

• Self-starter and comfortable determining direction in a highly dynamic environment with significant ambiguity
• Excellent communicator to partners, executive team, program leaders, and technical project team members
• Ability to be productive and prioritize in an environment with multiple competing priorities
