During a 10- week period our summer interns innovate and make an impact by transforming industries across the globe and changing the world one connection at a time. Our interns are presented with real business challenges and provide solutions that make a difference across all areas of the company, all while learning the skills needed to successfully navigate the modern workplace.

The Main Responsibilities
As a Software Applications Associate intern in our North American Operations organization, you will work collaboratively with our team to assess the validity of internal needs and the network's ability to fulfill the demand and provide guidance on where & how the demand can be fulfilled. This position will have high exposure to network planning and capacity management. Tasks during the 10 weeks will provide a bridge between our sales team and what our network can provide to customers. You will need a high level of engagement and ability to take initiative, ask questions, learn quickly, and work in a team environment. Other tasks may include:
• Build software tools to link API's between disparate internal systems to minimize the manual steps in the capacity management process- The software tools are intended to be working prototypes to support the business needs until an internal development team can take on a permanent, supported solution.
• Facilitate capacity check requests initiated from MySupportDesk and linked to Jira (to initiate an internal workflow) and an internal capacity check tool (to estimate traffic impacts).
• Streamline the capacity check processes through the Compute Planning organization (accelerating large sales) and automate workload tracking in Planning
• Continued support of Lumen's cutting edge Edge Compute (Bare Metal & Virtual Machine) and CDN services with other software development prototypes, as identified.
What We Look For in a Candidate
• Education Requirements
o Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university- rising senior status at the start of the internship, graduating August 2022 – May 2023.
o Major/Degree: In pursuit of degree in Computer Science, MIS, Data Science, or related field
• Proficiency and understanding of:
o Microsoft Suites
o Python
• Professional Attributes
o Strong drive for results/solutions and taking initiative to resolve problems
o High attention to detail with STRONG organizational skills
o Enjoys working with a variety of different people
o Ability to be resourceful and adaptable- independently AND in a team environment
o Strong written and verbal communication skills
o Comfortability in unstructured environment
o Flexible and able to adjust to changes
o Self-starter mindset
• Work Setting
o Ideally the position will be in one of the following offices: Broomfield, CO, or Remote/Work From Home
o Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours be week during the 10-week program (June – August)
o Intern must have reliable transportation to/from work location (Lumen does not provide transportation to/from Lumen office locations)
