Essential responsibilities

  • Responsible to handle all claims efficiently and optimally to an appropriate resolution with minimal supervision.
  • Handles all aspects of liability injury claims of low to very high complexity to include all coverage, liability and damage concerns.
  • Handles 1st party exposures to include Medical Payment coverage, PIP (Personal Injury Protection), Uninsured Motorists, Under-insured Motorists claims as well as ADB (Auto Death Benefit) claims.
  • Assists in taking FNOL and participating in the department phone queue.
  • Evaluating any potential for subrogation and initiating an initial notice of subrogation request.
  • Handles litigated claims.
  • Developing negotiation strategies to resolve claims optimally and efficiently with insured’s, claimant’s, or representatives of the injured parties.
  • Makes coverage determinations and conducting investigative work of a highly complex nature, advising customers as to proper course of action related to coverage issues.
  • Occasionally representing the company/customers at mediations, settlement conferences, arbitrations, and trial.
  • Directs defense counsel through discovery and negotiations with claimant or claimant’s attorneys.
  • Required to pass all state license examinations and maintain all reciprocal licenses for each required state.

What would make us excited about you

  • Bachelor's degree in business, insurance or related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6-7 years of claims experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of casualty experience required.
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
  • Capability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.

If performed in Colorado, this position has a salary range of $66,725 - $78,500 with an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 8% of eligible pay.
