The Director of Strategy & Business Development will be responsible for successfully managing large-scale projects in partnership with local, regional, and national sales and account management leadership in support of UHC's Employer & Individual business priorities. You will be an integral partner to the E&I Sales Organization and will work to provide solutions to market issues, all with a growth mindset . You will use your keen understanding of the needs of a sales organization while you unpack issues with regards to product, sales strategy, and processes. If you are a self-starter who can manage multiple projects while understanding and working with our large sales organization, this is an exciting opportunity for you to be a valued partner.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Strategic product or program consultation/support including assessing, defining, and consulting with matrix partners as the voice of sales/account management to influence project specific objectives and timelines, this work will include strategic and operational planning, all the way through execution
  • Ability to manage and prioritize numerous projects with the goal of keeping the line of business informed and priorities moving to ensure the markets can focus on selling and retaining business
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and analyze alternate solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Demonstrate passion for ownership through a track record of successfully achieving results in a complex work environment
  • Demonstrate solid leadership qualities and organizational skills to maximize project effectiveness
  • Assist in determining internal and external communication needs and creation of content to support the deployment of product launches as well as other business changes
  • Well-developed business judgement for creation of meaningful insight from potential disparate findings
  • Ability to identify and communicate the need for improvements in areas such as products, services, processes that support the sales and account management functions
  • Solid process and analytical thinking skills required to leverage data to information opportunities for operational assessment and streamlined processes
  • Support the creation and implementation of policy and procedures that impact processes, and/or programs directly related to sales/service execution of products and service

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing complex projects in a matrix environment and successfully driving change within an organization
  • 5+ years working directly with a sales organization either in a sales, account management, or support role
  • Ability to travel up to 10% based on business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Detailed understanding of UHC products, services and solutions
  • Market Sales or service experience with a full range of products
  • Proven track record of business development skills
  • Advanced level proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point)
