Humana Military is looking for a Senior Communications Professional to join the Humana Military Communications team working remote from anywhere in the US.

Responsibilities

As the Senior Communications Professional, Humana Military, you will be responsible for working across the business to create and manage original content for internal and external communication channels. You will partner closely with Humana Military’s government affairs team to deliver key communication plans in support of our work with public policy audiences. Major internal initiatives supported by this role include: intranet content management, presentation materials development for major internal meetings, and associate email content creation. As a critical member of the team, this associate will begin to influence the overarching communications strategy for Humana Military.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with communications team members and business partners to develop messages that resonate with associate population and public policy audiences

  • Actively contribute to editorial planning, suggest content ideas and feasible project timelines

  • Identify the best channels to reach target audiences and adapting content across channels

  • Serve as a liaison between team members, segment and cross-functional partners to ensure consistent messaging and timing

  • Develop and activate editorial strategy for all publishing and storytelling on our organization’s intranet that supports our unique culture, aligns with our brand and engages, inspires, informs and promotes dialogue among our associates

  • Create PowerPoint presentations for internal town halls and other critical meetings

  • Lead the management of the internal editorial calendar and ensuring appropriate cadence of new content

  • Partner with the Culture team to conduct ongoing audience listening research to better understand how stakeholders feel about topics of importance to the organization and about existing content

  • Build relationships with business partners to achieve greater understanding of different business functions and goals

  • Assist with external communications tactics, such as press releases, social media posts and editorial campaigns

  • Research and recommend best practices for team adoption

  • Outstanding project management capabilities, solid communications technical mastery, strategic thinking, strong Microsoft PowerPoint design and presentation skills, and follow through are critical to meet the role’s responsibilities. This position requires the ability manage multiple projects from concept to completion, drive strategy and execution, and collaborate with senior-level leaders, and across teams of managers, professionals and analysts. This Senior Professional role will work closely with their leader, communication team members and internal business partners to provide trusted counsel on communication strategy.

    Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience

  • 5+ years of experience in developing military/public policy/government affairs communications plans

  • A thorough understanding of the practice of communications

  • Outstanding, demonstrated project management skills

  • Strong, demonstrated skills developing communications strategies

  • Progressive communications experience with a demonstrated ability of managing and prioritize a diverse set of projects

  • Ability to influence, and collaborate in a cross-functional environment

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; able to communicate at all levels of an organization

  • Passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving customer experiences

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to produce and edit videos

  • Basic design skills

  • Prior healthcare communications experience

  • Travel

  • Based on current guidance from the CDC, local and state governments, and Humana leadership related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak have extended travel restrictions until further notice. The policy will be reassessed as the situation warrants. Once these restrictions are lifted this role may require quarterly travel depending on business needs.
