About the Opportunity
The Remote Learning Academy (RLA) School Operations Manager (SOM) is a state based position that assists with front office and operations functions necessary to run a Remote Learning Academy offered to students eligible in KIPP Texas Public Schools statewide. Supporting the Assistant Principal of Operations, The RLA SOM will assist with implementation and maintenance of clear operational systems and a supportive school environment that allows the RLA leadership team, school leaders, and RLA teachers to focus on instruction and supporting scholars and families. This includes all family communication, answering phone calls, support with admittance, rostering, RLA technology support, student data, regulatory compliance, and attendance. The SOM serves as a key member of the RLA Team, ensuring that the RLA’s operations meet high standards of excellence, and leaders, as well as RLA teachers, feel supported, and families are offered outstanding customer service.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
Responsible for all RLA specific family communications (emails, texts, calls, and letters to families)
Supports as needed with RLA budget and coding
Manages all phone calls coming into the school
Maintains neat and organized digital folders and documentation
Compiles daily attendance data for all RLA students PK-12 and supports attendance calls as needed
Schedule parent calls with appropriate team members
Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal of Operations
Liaison between schools & IT team to ensure families have access to Chromebooks
Communicates RLA updates with school leaders (quarantine start/end dates, confirming eligibility, attendance etc.)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong communication and time management skills; ability to effectively backwards plan, juggle multiple priorities with great attention to detail, and deliver consistent and timely results
Sense of humility, customer service mindset, and shows urgency and the ability to proactively solve problems and make decisions quickly
Team player with strong interpersonal and stakeholder management and relationship building skills
Ability to be calm under pressure, especially in difficult conversations with parents and staff
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel; Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Classroom, and Google Sheets
Desire to continuously learn and increase effectiveness as a professional

Required Education and/or Experience:
Bilingual; English & Spanish required
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
Work experience, preferably in education and/or customer service

Employees are responsible for acquiring and maintaining reliable internet throughout the duration of their employment
Compensation and Benefits:
In addition to a competitive salary scale, a part of KIPP Texas’ competitive benefits options, KIPP offers all employees an $0 HMO plan for the employee only. In addition to our $0 plan, KIPP provides a $600 employer contribution towards a Health Savings Account and a variety of other supplemental benefits such as Dental, Vision, Short and Long-Term Disability, Pet Insurance, Life, etc.
Funding:
The School Operations Manager (Remote Learning Academy) will be funded directly from the Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief (ESSER) grants awarded by the Texas Education Agency under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (ESSER II) and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ESSER III). This position will be funded solely (100%) from the ESSER II and III allocation for direct expenses through September 30, 2023, and may continue to be funded through September 30, 2024, depending upon the availability of ESSER grant funds. At the end of the grant period this position may be eliminated unless other sources of funds are secured to maintain this position or a similar position. The employee must sign this job description acknowledging receipt of the job description and signing their acknowledgement that this position is grant funded and is temporarily aligning with the terms of the grant period.
